The agreement

These terms apply to every vehicle hired from Pralavo at 22-44 Bath Lane, Bendigo VIC 3550. By collecting the keys you accept them, along with the condition report and the rental agreement you sign at the counter. If anything in those documents conflicts with this page, the signed agreement wins for that hire.

The vehicle remains our property throughout the rental. You are responsible for it from the moment the keys are handed over until a staff member signs it back in.

Bookings and confirmation

A booking is a request until we confirm it in writing. We confirm by email once the dates, the category and the price are agreed. We hold the specific model you booked where possible. If that vehicle becomes unavailable through damage or a late return by another customer, we provide an equivalent or larger vehicle at the same rate.

• Quoted rates include registration, standard insurance and GST.
• Rates are valid for the dates and tier shown at the time of booking.
• Extra days are charged at the rate current on the return date, not the booking date.

Driver requirements

All drivers must hold a current full licence, present it in person at pickup, and be named on the agreement. Provisional licences are accepted on the compact range only and carry a young driver charge. Drivers under 21 must call the depot before booking, because some insurers exclude that age group.

Overseas licences must be in English or accompanied by an official translation. An international driving permit is required where your licence is not in English and no translation is available. We cannot release a vehicle to an unnamed driver, and we cannot add a driver over the phone.

Payment, bond and fuel

The rental charge is taken at pickup. A refundable bond is held on the card at the same time: $300 on the compact range, $600 on the Bitumen Plus 4x4 tier and $1,200 on the High Country and Expedition tiers. The hold is released within two business days of return once the vehicle has been checked.

Vehicles leave with a full tank and must come back full. Refuelling on our side is charged at the pump price plus a $22 service fee. The long range tank on the Expedition tier must also be returned full.

Damage, excess and off-road use

Standard cover includes an excess of $2,400 on compact cars, or the reduced figure shown on your tier. Off-road driving is excluded from standard cover. Track use is only covered if you booked the High Country or Expedition tier, and only on graded routes we have approved at the counter.

• Water crossings deeper than 700 mm are not covered under any tier.
• Damage caused while towing without written approval is your responsibility.
• Tyres and rims are covered for normal road use, not for impact damage off-road beyond the approved tracks.
• Cleaning that needs more than a standard wash is charged at $65, or at cost for biohazard cleanup.

Cancellations, late returns and liability

Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup and nothing is charged. Cancel inside 24 hours and one day's rental is retained. Not collecting the vehicle without notice is treated as a cancellation inside 24 hours. If we cancel for a reason within our control, you receive a full refund or a replacement vehicle, whichever you prefer.

Late returns are charged an hour at a time up to four hours, then a full day. If you are delayed by something outside your control, call us before the return time and we will work something out. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to the rental charges you paid, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as missed flights or lost bookings. Nothing here excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
